(full disclosure I mix up the two sides while doing this). Your breasts are dense and fibrous, but I don't feel any lumps. Do you check them yourself? Good. I palpate your abdomen in several places before moving towards the end of the table.

I situate myself between your legs. It's time for me to conduct your pap. I put on a new pair of gloves before parting your vulva. I know nobody enjoys this, but we've got to get it done... Try to relax... Inhale, exhale and I insert a well lubricated speculum into your vagina. I take a couple swabs to send to the lab before retracting the speculum. Lastly, I lubricate a finger and insert it into your vagina. I use my other hand to gently press down on your lower abdomen, feeling around for anything that could be concerning. I know this isn't fun, but we're nearly done. There.

All seems well - I'll get your samples off to the lab. Results usually take about a week and a half and of course - no news is good news!
